CRS History
CRS, Inc. was founded in 1927 as an independent cash register dealership. In the 1960's, under the direction of the late Ken Sanders, CRS expanded operations to include a rebuilding facility and distribution center for used and reconditioned NCR cash registers. In the 1970's, CRS entered the age of electronic cash registers (ECRs) on two fronts designing and developing first generation electronic cash registers manufactured in the USA, and developing import relationships with major Japanese manufacturers. By 1980, CRS was importing a line of electronic cash registers manufactured by Matsushita Communications Industrial and distributing them in North America under the CRS trademarks CRS and Esper.
Throughout this time, development of distribution channels paralleled product development. In addition to supplying a network of cash register dealers, CRS focused on a larger network of office products dealers and distributors as an outlet for low-cost imported ECRs. In 1974, the Parts Division was established, offering industry related parts and supplies through direct mail and telemarketing.
In the mid-1980's, CRS began a relationship with Samsung Electronics as the exclusive importer/distributor for Samsung ECRs in North America. In 2001, Samsung Electronics sold their ECR operation to their manufacturing subcontractor, Shin Heung Precision Co., Ltd. (SHC). CRS has continued the relationship with SHC establishing the SAM4s brand to succeed the Samsung brand. Together CRS and SHC have grown the SAM4s product line to become the worlds most respected ECR brand.
Today, CRS maintains importing relationship with many respected manufacturers:
- SNBC, one of China's leading electronic enterprises and manufacturer of thermal print heads, printers, and printer mechanisms for POS, kiosk and lable printing applications.
- NEC Infrontia Corporation, part of the global NEC Corporation and manufacturer of POS terminals for the quick service industry.
- Bixolon Corporation, Republic of Korea, manufacturer of Samsung mini-printers.
- Firich Enterprises Co., Ltd., of Taiwan, manufacturer of POS terminals, PCs and Peripherals for retail and hospitality applications.
CRS, Inc. is very proud of its long established heritage and looks forward to the next generation of exciting possibilities.

CRS Dealer Line Products Division
The Dealer Line Products Division of CRS offers full service cash register and POS dealers an exclusive "Dealer Line" of ECRs marketed under the SAM4s® trademark. Dealer line product offerings range from sophisticated ECRs to POS systems consisting of networks of independent terminals and associated peripherals that are featured for hospitality, quick service, grocery and retail markets.
In the past, ECRs and POS solutions have differed significantly in price, reliability and capability. The new SAM4s SPS-2000 touch screen ECR blurs old distinctions. With a super-bright 12.1" TFT touch screen, on-board flash memory, and compact retail-hardened design, the SPS-2000 closely resembles higher-cost PC-based POS terminals.
NEC System Terminals are widely used in quick service restaurants, including KFC, Dairy Queen, A&W, Burger King, Taco Johns, Wendys and Krispy Kreme.
The Dealer Line reseller network consists of hundreds of independent dealers, representing every U.S. State, every Canadian Province, and every major market in North America. Many dealer line dealers have represented CRS products for over 30 years and look to CRS for innovative products and unmatched support. CRS System Terminals - targeted at the Quick Service and Hospitality industries - are resold by a national network of highly qualified independent POS dealers and VARs.

CRS Open Line Products Division
The CRS Open Line Product Division distributes a line-up of affordable Electronic Cash Registers (ECRs). These products are marketed under an "Open Line" policy, targeted at the Cash Register and Office Products industries. While market news today focuses on high technology PC-based POS systems, the low-end of the ECR industry has maintained steady growth. ECRs are proven products, providing necessary information, with a high level of reliability and security. In addition to traditional markets - low volume retailers and quick service restaurants - there are new markets emerging for ECRs, such as quick-service kiosks and concessions.
